Coherence means we are designing or adjusting our current mental, behavioral and operating models to create a system that connects strategy with execution and exhibits rigor without rigidity. Here we are conducting workshops, having conversations and doing analyses that provide the following target outcomes:
- A shared understanding at the executive level on how decisions will be made and the agreement to distribute decision making throughout the value chain
- A clear definition of what "value" means to the organization
- Buy-in on the decision framework that will be used to evaluate, review/approve/reject proposed initiatives and built-in logic to support prioritization
- A governance model that specifies how value will flow through the system, what roles and responsibilities will be involved, what the format of the deliverables will be as well as how the system will be monitored and managed
- A shared understanding of the mindset and behaviors that will be required to successfully initiate and operate the new model
- Agreement on the proposed system design and the fit between the business model and the operating model
