Awareness is the first step in getting set up for success. Here we are conducting workshops, having conversations and doing analyses that provide the following target outcomes:
- An executive review and endorsement of the current business strategy that answers three questions: 1) What is our winning aspiration, 2) Where will we play, and 3) How will we win?
- A shared understanding of the business drivers for change/merger/acquisition
- The specific business objectives that will need to be achieved in order to realize the vision
- A succinct vision statement that communicates what, why and why now
- A clear sense of urgency for the change, i.e. what might happen if we don't act now
- A shared understanding of the organization's current strengths, challenges, capabilities, risks, business environment and technology stack
- A high-level view of the current decision model, i.e. who makes what decisions, when do they do it and with what information
- A schematic operating model that illustrates how value flows through the system
- An initial gap analysis between the desired future state and the current state, potential impacts, costs and timing
- A defined appetite for change and awareness of the fit between appetite for change and the expected impacts, costs and risks
